Letter, 1783 May 12, Cantonment, to Mary Searles, Lunenburg, Mass.

Short letter from Samuel to his mother written while at Camp Cantonment in NY. States that he is in good health, hopes to see her during the summer and informs her that "the Commander in Chief has been up from New York to see his excelency Genl Washington", the inhabitants of NY have liberty to trade in New York [City], and that they don't expect the British to leave New York "much under two months."
